Hello! I’m Ken (He/Him). I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (#23898). I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, as well as being a Certified Coaching Professional.
Life can bring us hard things, and I understand that the decision to seek counselling isn’t always an easy one. The issues you’re facing may have a painful and complex history which could make them feel difficult to talk about. As a therapist, I create a safe and supportive space in which you don’t feel pressured or rushed. Instead, you’re welcome to move at a manageable pace. I draw from a variety of modalities, but the core of my relational therapeutic approach flows from Rogerian person-centered therapy and is strengths-based and trauma-informed. I’m warm and approachable, but talking with me goes deeper than that, as I genuinely believe in the power of you, and your ability to shape your life. Together we can explore any beliefs that hold you back, while creating achievable goals that encourage your healing and personal growth. I believe my clients are often stronger than they realize, and capable of making meaningful change.
I help my clients to address depression, anxiety, burnout, grief, and other mental health concerns. I also offer support to those dealing with religious trauma and faith deconstruction as I know how multi-layered these issues can be. I work with individuals and those in relationships of all kinds. I welcome diversity and I strive to be humble and curious when exploring the cultures of my clients. I am affirming of my 2SLGBTQ+ community.
I am accepting new clients and all my therapy sessions are currently online using Zoom. I offer a free 20-minute introductory conversation prior to booking your first session. I look forward to connecting with you.
I live in Vancouver’s West End, close to the beaches, sunsets, and tall trees of Stanley Park. I’m recharged by frequent seawall walks, exploring all things design-related, and building community with others, but most importantly by nurturing connection with my two brilliant and inspiring young adult children. My daily self-regulation practice involves boundary-setting with our strong-willed cat, Buttercup.
